Future Reading Plans

Hey, guys. Okay so school starts on the Sept 8th for me. Meaning, it’s back to being busy. But, that does not mean I’m giving up on my reading (hardback and e-book). I’ve scanned through goodreads and a couple of book blogs/vlogs I tend to check out to see if there are some books right now worth checking out. And, these are the ones I’ve chose: (though they may change along time..)

1. SWEETLY  by Jackson Pierce

4. Lola and the Boy Next Door  by Stephanie Perkins (author of  ”Anna and the French Kiss”)

Okay, so there’s four books. I gave you a summary of them, to get the jist of what exactly I’ll be reading. I still have more I wanna check it out, but I need to sort through first before I add them to the list; which I will be making a separate post of.

Book Review #2 {Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill]

–Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was Merit’s. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker—and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.

Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude— and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan’s attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone’s still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war—and there will be blood.

Whoa. Not bad of an intro, huh? This is the first book in the Chicagoland Vampires series. In this book we are introduced to the major characters that will continue on into the remaining books. First, we have Merit – who I have to say is totally kick-ass. Despite the sudden and I might add for my own opinion horrific change of her life. She takes  her life, more or less, by the balls and continues on. She turns into a vampire.
But, she’s not alone because our male protagonist Ethan Sullivan takes her under his wings. Ethan is the blonde, cold, mysterious yet totally unbelievably hot male lead.  XD
He and Merit butt heads from the moment they officially meet. I love the banter and underlying sexual tension between the two. It’s part of what makes the book so enjoyable, tbh. Besides these two we have Mallory – Merit’s no nonsense best friend who happens to be a witch. Catcher, a warlock and Jeff and a shapeshifter. Lindsey who’s a guard for Ethan’s house. Along with Luke and Malik – Ethan’s two right hand men. If your looking for a paranormal series with a kickass female lead, and even more badass male lead.  Politics and struggles of paranormal and human society with of course a tug and pull steamy romance. This is your book.

Book Review #1 [Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins]

I really liked this book. I love Sophie – the main character – her sarcasm is my favorite thingabout her. I love how Rachel throws in pop-culture bits inside the story making some of the dialogue quite funny. Archer Cross, the books’  bad-boy with a past heartthrob. Can’t help but love him too. He’s a great contrast to Sophie.  Hex Hall is like a mix between Harry Potter and Mean Girls. She created a fun and vibrant world with very likable characters, to say the least. The plot is nothing new, but the twists and quirks Hawkins throws it makes Hex Hall it’s own. I defintely recommend this book for anyone who wants a light-hearted read, with funny quips between characters. With a bit of mystery and of course the ever so popular beginnings of love, this book is for you.

I base my reviews of novels on the plot, the dialogue, and the characters themselves.
My rating is pretty easy and simple to understand:

5 - worthy of a read. I'm in love.
4 - some things I'm not so sure, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
3- undecided feelings. I may pick it up again in the future; but not definite.
2 - too many too much. two stars for a certain character.
1- no. just no.
